Day Use Hotel Software for Guest Service and Fast Room Turnover

Definition

Day use (day-room) hotel stays are bookings of a few hours, typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., sold through the hotel's own channels or day-use marketplaces. The booking stays in your PMS or marketplace; the guest-service and turnover work is where operations software helps.

How it works, step by step

  1. Guest arrives

Front desk assigns the room in your existing PMS or day-use channel.

  2. Scan the room QR

The browser opens Dining & Items and Hotel Services for that room, with no app.

  3. Order or request

Food goes to the kitchen display (KDS); service requests such as towels go to the responsible team.

  4. Room released

When the room is released through the existing room workflow, the room guest session is revoked automatically.

  5. Turnover

Housekeeping gets a Room Cleaning request so the room can be resold the same evening.

What the product does, and what it does not

What it is notNot a day-use booking engine, channel manager or payment gateway.

US use cases

  • Airport and highway hotels selling daytime rest rooms to travelers with layovers
  • Urban limited-service hotels monetizing rooms between check-out and check-in
  • Resort pool-day and cabana packages that need food delivered to a specific room
  • Hotels near hospitals or convention centers serving short work stays

Hiring and keeping hourly hotel staff in the US is expensive, so a request flow that does not depend on someone answering the phone saves time you can measure. Model your own numbers with the room service revenue calculator or the ROI calculator.

Room guest sessions are server-authoritative and are revoked automatically when the room is released through the existing room workflow; a manager can also reset guest access for one room.

Staff can create or receive a Room Cleaning service request for that room, assigned to the housekeeping team and visible in Command Center.
